About

The Site

Hello and welcome to Composure Photography, a blog charting the exploits of an amateur photographer’s first forays into the world of digital SLR photography.

The blog contains my random musings and ramblings as I go about my chosen hobby on a budget and will follow me as I, hopefully, learn and grow. It will also provide some insight into how I capture and edit the images I take and my process for doing so – should I ever develop an actual process beyond trial & error – so that perhaps other, even rawer beginners can learn from me and, much more likely, my mistakes.

However, the focus (pardon the pun) will be on the photos themselves as I’m an amateur photographer and not a writer, as I’m sure you’ll come to appreciate after reading a few posts. Therefore the blog will also serve as a gallery/portfolio of sorts. I may also at some point add the ability to buy prints of my photos through the blog when I feel I’m ready or if people start showing enough interest. Who knows, maybe one day in the distant future this blog will morph into the professional website for my photography business. Maybe. Probably not.

Me

I became interested in photography about eight years ago while attending university, after deciding that I was in dire need of a proper hobby. I wish I had a romantic story of how I came to choose photography, such as being inspired by the breath-taking work of a talented artist, but the simple reality is that I took up photography because I’m bad at drawing. I soon became hooked though and developed a genuine passion for the subject with a continued desire to improve my skills.

My first camera was a 6.3 megapixel Fujifilm Finepix S6500fd bridge camera…
